Hi Friends out there with hearing loss…and their families and friends.
I am commenting on my own BLOG. If you are in the Reno area, drive to the Gran Sierra and get a free exhibit hall pass to see the latest in technology and services.Grand opening today (Thirsday, June 12) at 4 pm.
Meet your Congressman Heller who comes by the Exhibit Hall tomorrow (Friday)– at 3:45 p.m. By the way, feast on some junque food at the same time for the Junque Food Fest. I’m there!!
I will post more exciting happenings later. There is just so much to do, people to see — friends I have already found, Ann Pruitt, Nancy Deitrich, Ginny Clark-Wright, Ahme Stone, Marilyn Finn, Nanci Linke-Ellis, Mac McCarthy, Les, Bob Brannigan from Seattle who has been to EVERY CONVENTION since 1986!! And, Marcia Dugan, Sue Miller…I better stop because the list goes on and I am sorry if I didn’t mention you but I have to run to the HLAA Annual Meeting where the state of the organization is discussed. All members welcome.
Later today, Opening Session, reception sponsored by Advanced Bionics..and the Bowlerama sponsored by AT&T (look out, I am a maniac with a bowling ball.)
I will post a formal blog later…if you are in the area…please come by! If not, come next year, we will be in Nashville.
Regards from Reno,
Barbara Kelley

What a great start to the convention! The pre-conference intensive this morning, “What Children with Cochlear Implants Need in School” (sponsored by Cochlear Americas) was very helpful to me in my position as Hard of Hearing Specialist for the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing. The keynote by Ollie Cantos this evening ROCKED! and I am looking forward to speaking with him more in regards to a recent federal court ruling against open captioning in movie theatres. Congratulations to Dr. Mark Ross, Ph.D. for his Lifetime Achievement Award. He’s one of our heros!
